Ok, so here's the deal. If you owe back taxes, your property will be sold. Pay the back tax before Nov 14, and avoid having it sold out from under you! There is a one year redemption period, yes, you can get it back within a year, but it will cost you more in the long run. If you have a legal interest in the property, such as a mortgage, or lein, you can pay the back tax, and avoid having it sold.
If you are buying a property - don't forget about the one year redemption period!
