Toes in the sand...It's time for Aiken's Beach Blast!! 6/21 & 22, 2013 

It's just around the corner now....    come on down to Newberry Street (our festival block - between Richland and Park Ave on Newberry Street!)-    Downtown Beach Blast will be here on 6/21 snd 6/22, 2013, woo hoo!   This is one of my favorite downtown Aiken events (we have soooo many great events!!)

They bring in sand and make a beach right in the middle of town!  Toes in the sand, y'all... toes in the sand.  Beach music, shagging (that's our state dance - just in case you were thinking something else, hehe), beach badminton, sandcastles, classic cars,,,,,,and more beach fun for everyone :)  

Here's what's happening:

Friday:  Movie night! Bring your lawn chair or blanket and come enjoy a classic beach film on Newberry 'Beach' -  food vendors will be on hand, too.

Saturday:  Badminton Tourny, Car show cruise-in, sand castle building and more family-friendly games and activities throughout the day.  Then shag dancing into the night! Plenty of opportunity for toes in the sand!!  Enjoy downtown shopping, dining and fun for the entire family.

Bring back some memories at the drive-in movies!

Remember going to the drive-in movies with your family... your friends... your boy or girlfriend! I sure do. Wow, what memories. I remember the very first time I went - I was just a little girl, it was in Newton, NJ, with my Aunt Elaine -and we saw Snow White. Back then you had to hang the metal speaker on your window in order to hear the movie - nowadays you can tune in with your car radio :)




We have a drive-in movie right here in Aiken County - called 'The Big Mo', located in Monetta, SC, on Highway 1. It's very easy to find - just take Highway 1 - towards Ridge Spring,,,and keep going until you get to Monetta. You will pass Ridge Spring High School, and then it isn't far from there.

Screen 1: Fast & Furious (PG-13), The Great Gatsby (PG-13)



Screen 2: Epic (PG), Start Trek Into Darkness (Pg-13)



Screen 3 : After Earth (PG-13) The Hangover III (R)







Gates open at 7pm, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Movies start between 8:45 and 9pm. Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for children 4-11 years old, and free for children age 3 and younger. (cash only!)
